Team History
- DC, previously known as DD was formed in 2008 and is one of the original eight teams that participated in the inaugural season of the IPL.
- The team is based in Delhi, the capital of India.
- DC had many captains, Virender Sehwag, Mahela Jayawardene, Gautam Gambhir, Shreyas Iyer but has never won the IPL.
Team Owners
The Delhi Capitals franchise was originally owned by the GMR Group, a multinational infrastructure development company based in Bangalore, India. The franchise was then bought by JSW Group, a conglomerate based in Mumbai, India, in 2018.
However, in 2019, the franchise was taken over by a consortium of investors led by Parth Jindal’s JSW Sports.
Team Colors and Logo
- The official team colors of DC are light blue and red.
- The Capitals, along with revealing their new name, has also taken a new logo about three tigers. Jindal said it was inspired by the design of the parliament house. He said that the tiger is India’s national animal and the three Tiger idea is derived from the Ashok Chakra.
Home Ground
DC’s home ground is the Arun Jaitley Stadium, located in Delhi. The stadium has a seating capacity of approximately 42,000 spectators and is known for its energetic atmosphere during DC matches.
Team Captain and Coach
DC had plenty of captains, Currently, the captain of DC is Australian legend, David Warner. However, he was the stand-in captain for this season, the actual captain of DC is Rishab Pant who was ruled out before IPL due to an accident. The head coach of DC is Ricky Ponting.
