The sixteenth edition of the IPL is going on in full swing. There is so much of excitement and thrill for very match but the teams and fans are missing some of their favourite players very badly because of their absence due to injuries.
Here is the list of 3 key Indian players who are missing the IPL this season because of their injuries :
Rishab Pant (Delhi Capitals)
The captain of Delhi capitals, Pant luckily survived a car accident in the month of December last year and was injured rather very badly and was also hospitalized for months. Pant has had a ligament tear in his right knee along with other injuries and some minor burns as well. This horrible accident has forced him to be out of action for an indefinite amount of time. He has currently undergone a knee surgery in Mumbai and is on the road to recovery. Former BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly revealed that it could take up to two years for Pant to become fully fit and play for India again in all the formats of the game.
He is now replaced by David Warner as the captain of DC and by Abhishek Porel as the wicketkeeper in Capitals ‘squad.
Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)
With all the back to back injuries, Bumrah was injured a long time before the IPL itself and had to stay out of several international and domestic tournaments last year. He was also ruled out of major tournament such as the T20 World Cup and also the Border Gavaskar trophy series against Australia. He has been having issues with his back because of his unorthodox bowling action which affects his back muscles. However, he has undergone a back surgery last month in New Zealand and is at the NCA practicing and working out. His absence has been a huge blow to the MI team which was fairly dependent on him for the bowling line up. Sandeep Warrier has been named as a replacement to the medium pacer.
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Shreyas also misses out on the IPL this year because of his serious back injury. He had a back injury and underwent a back surgery in London this Tuesday. He is likely to miss the entire season of the IPL and KKR has thus named Nitish Rana as their new captain for the season this year. He is at least expected to be fully fit before the World Cup though he will miss the WTC final in the month of June.
IPL feels incomplete without these players. Praying for their earliest recovery and waiting to see them back on the field!!
