World’s best all-rounder – Ravindra Jadeja was born in a Gujarati Rajpoot family on 6 December 1988. He was in Navagam Ghed city of Jamnagar district in Gujarat. Ravindra Jadeja’s mother died in 2005 when he was just 17 years old. He had an interest in cricket from an early age and often used to play for the school.
His father was a security guard for a private agency. His father was strict and Jadeja was very scared of him. His father wanted Jaddu to become an army officer. After the expiry of his mother, Jadeja was so broke and the trauma of losing his mother almost made him quit cricket. However, there isn’t much information about Jadeja’s education.
Ravindra Jadeja Debut and Best Innings
After impressing the selectors with his performance, Ravindra Jadeja was selected in the Indian ODI squad for the first time for a series against Sri Lanka in Feb 2009. He made his debut on 8 February 2009 against Sri Lanka. He scored 60 runs off 77 balls and also bowled 6 overs but was unable to take any wickets.
One of the greatest Ravindra Jadeja innings came in the 2019 ICC World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. He scored 77 runs off 59 balls including 4 boundaries and 4 sixes while batting at no.6. However, India lost the match by 18 runs.

The No. 1 all-rounder of modern cricket started his cricket career by playing school cricket. Soon because of hard work and determination, he got selected for the U-19 Indian team in 2005 when he was just 16 years old. He was later picked for the U-19 World Cup squad of India in 2006. India reached the final of the 2006 world cup but lost against Pakistan.
However, Jadeja was impressive in the final match as he picked up 3 crucial wickets. Later in 2008, Virat Kohli lead the winning Indian team, and Jadeja was the vice-captain. He was very impressive with the ball as he took 10 wickets in 6 matches and was a very important player on the team.
After winning the U-19 world cup, Jaddu made his first appearance in first-class cricket in the 2006-07 Duleep Trophy. He played for the west zone in the Duleep Trophy and for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
The year of Jadeja’s greatness started when he became the 8th player in history and the first player to score 3 triple centuries in first-class cricket, joining legends like Brian Lara, Don Bradman, etc.
Ravindra Jadeja was picked up by the victorious Rajasthan Royals in the first-ever edition of the Indian Premier League. He scored 135 runs from 14 matches at a strike rate of 131.06 in his maiden IPL season. The captain of Rajasthan Royals Shane Warne referred to Jadeja as a “Superstar in the making” he also gave him a nickname – Rockstar.
In 2012 he was picked up by a new franchise – Kochi Tuskers Kerala. For $950,000. In the 2012 edition of the IPL Jaddu was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings for $2 million and became the most expensive player of that season.
