Early Life and Education
Iyer was born on December 6, 1994, in Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He was born in a Tamil family whereas his mother was a Tuluva. Iyer loved cricket and had a keen interest in it since childhood. He was trained by Pravin Amre in his early stages. He was quite good in his studies as well. He completed his school life at Don Bosco High School, Matunga. After completing his school life, Shreyas went to Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. He also helped his school team to win many trophies.

Debut: Shreyas Iyer made his international debut by playing his first T20I on 1st November 2017 in Delhi against New Zealand. However, Shreyas didn’t get a chance to bat in that match. He got to bat in the next match in Rajkot on November 4 where he scored 23 runs from 21 balls including 4 boundaries. However, India lost the match by 40 runs. In 2014, Iyer played for the Trent Bridge cricket team during a tour and played 3 matches and scored 279 runs which included a score of 171 runs.
Iyer made a record of the greatest number of runs a season in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy, playing for Mumbai. He scored a mammoth 1321 runs which included 4 centuries and 7 half centuries.

He was the youngest captain ever to lead Delhi Daredevils.
