Early Life an Education

Gill was born in a Sikh family. His father was a farmer who wanted to become a cricketer in his childhood but was unsuccessful. He wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming a cricketer. Gill started playing cricket at an early age of 3 years. His father challenged all his friends and people nearby to bowl Shubman and get him out. If they did so then he would have rewarded him with 100rs. Shubman wanted to become a farmer like his father but his father saw his cricket skills and encouraged him to become a cricketer. He also told that Shubman loves his village and farms very much. Shubman completed his education at Manav Mangal Smart School in Mohali, Punjab.

Debut: Shubman Gill made his debut on 31^st January 2019 against New Zealand at Hamilton.

• One of the best and most memorable innings of Shubman Gill was when he scored his maiden double-hundred. On January 18, 2023, against New Zealand Shubman Gill scored his first double hundred in Hyderabad. He scored 208 runs from 149 balls including 19 fours and 9 sixes. India won the match by just 12 runs and Shubman Gill was named as Man of the match.
• Gill made his test debut on 26^th December 2020 in Melbourne with Mohammed Siraj in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He scored a solid 45 of 65 including 8 boundaries in the first innings and scored an unbeaten 35 runs of 36 deliveries including 7 boundaries and helped India win the test by 8 wickets. • Gill has many good knocks in the test format including a century. But one of his best innings came against Australia in Gabba, Brisbane in the 4^th and final test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. • Gill made his T20I debut on 3^rd January 2023 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai against Asian Champions Sri Lanka. He scored just 7 runs from 5 balls including a four. India won the match by 2 runs and Deepak Hooda was named man of the match. 
• Gill’s best T20I innings came in the series against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. He scored the highest-ever score by an Indian in this format scoring 126 runs off 63 balls.

Gill was born on September 8^th, 1999 in Fazika, Punjab, India. His father was a farmer and he wanted to become a farmer too like his father. His father was a cricketer in his childhood but couldn’t play for long because of family reasons, so he wanted Shubman to play cricket and that’s why shifted to Mohali and rented a house near PCA. He loved batting and asked his father to bowl him. His father challenged all his friends and people nearby to bowl Shubman and get him out. If they did so then he would have rewarded him with 100rs. On he asks his father, he said that Shubman is very attached to his farm and village.

He made his first appearance in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy for Punjab and smashed a double century. He played for Punjab in the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy and 2017-18 Ranji Trophy.

Later he was selected and named as the vice-captain of the 2018 ICC U-19 World Cup which was held in Australia. India won that tournament convincingly with Shubman being the Player of the Tournament because of his performance with the bat. He scored 372 runs which also included a century against rival Pakistan in the Semi-Final.

Just after the World Cup, he was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 1.8cr. He was playing for KKR as a lower-middle-order batsman initially and then promoted to the opener. In the 2022 IPL, he was drafted to the Gujarat Titans squad directly for INR 8cr.

Gill was considered for just longer formats of the game like test and ODI. But because of his amazing performance in the IPL, he was added to the T20 squad as well and made his debut on 3^rd January 2023 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai against Sri Lanka. He scored just 7 runs of 5 balls on his debut while batting first. India won the nail-biting match by just 2runs.

Currently, Shubman Gill is playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL and is also the 3^rd highest run scorer now. At the age of just 23 years, he has a hundred in all formats and also has an IPL trophy.
